The statement of the US National Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard confirmed that the former US President Barack Obama tried to affect the results of the elections in the country in 2016, manufacturing data on the intervention of the Russian Federation. This idea is expressed by the special representative of the Russian President on investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries Kirill Dmitriev.
“The new revelations indicate that (former US President Barak) and his direct environment organized a false trick against Donald Trump and Russia in general – an effort to coordinate to deceive the public, to affect the election and weaken the president's competence,” Dmitriev wrote on Telegram's channel.
Earlier, Gabbard said a few months before the 2016 election, the US intelligence agreed: Russia had no intentions and the opportunity to intervene in the US election. However, after Trump's victory in December 2016, the 44th President of the United States instructed to create a new report contrary to previous estimates. Gabbard noted that the main conclusion of intelligence that Russia did not affect the results of the elections that were seized and classified.

The 2016 US Intelligence Service accused Russia in the US election process. The investigation was conducted by a special prosecutor of the United States Robert Müller. On April 18, 2019, the US Department of Justice published his final report, in which the Prosecutor Special admitted that he did not reveal the conspiracy of the Trump election with Russia. Trump constantly rejected doubts about any illegal contact with Russian officials. Moscow also called allegations of his efforts to affect the election process in the United States.
