The ruins of an ancient Roman fortress were discovered by archaeologists in the excavation in southeastern Crimea. This has been announced by Oleg Markov, Development Director of Archaeological Fund, writing .

According to him, the fortress operates around the first century BC and is part of the defensive system of the Kingdom of Bosporan. It is located in a strategic position overlooking the Kerch Strait.
The excavation is being carried out by the Southern Bosporan expedition of the Crimea Archaeological Institute and the Russian Academy of Sciences.
