Sber announced the creation of a new block “Innovative AI Development”, which will develop the technological base for basic models of artificial intelligence. This was reported by the company's press service.
Sber noted that separating this area into a separate block emphasizes its priority importance for Sber itself and for customers who already use the ecosystem's AI solutions in everyday life.
“The speed of technological transformation is an important factor in the success of our strategy. It is important to develop basic technologies and immediately apply them in practice. I welcome Anton to the Sber team. I am sure that together with Andrey and his colleagues we are entering a new phase where artificial general intelligence will become our ally and will radically improve the customer experience”, German Gref, President President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sber said.
The “Innovative AI Development” block is headed by Anton Frolov, who has more than ten years of experience in creating and scaling high-tech products. Thus, at Yandex he was involved in the development of the Yandex.Translator and Search services, then joined the Zen team, where in three years he rose from CTO to CEO and created one of the largest recommendation services in the country. At Sberbank, Frolov will focus on developing general AI models and platforms.
In parallel, the “Technology Development” block, under the leadership of Andrey Belevtsev, will continue to deploy technologies in the transformation of the Sber Group, developing AI products for external customers and physical AI projects. Over the past year, the block team has created several solutions that have transformed the user experience: GigaChat model line, Kandinsky, Sber smart devices, GigaCode developer assistant, as well as bringing general AI to the services of Sber and partner companies.
“The creation of the “Generation AI Development” block is a new step towards Russia's technological sovereignty. Sber is developing its own Generation AI platform, built on Russian infrastructure and taking into account national priorities in the field of security and openness of technology,” the bank said.
