Minister of Digital Development of the Ulyanovsk Region Oleg Yagfarov called reports of an Internet shutdown in the region completely fake. About this report “Y-Volga.”

According to Yagfarov, some bloggers have spread false information about the Internet situation in the region. He noted that in these messages “half of what was said in the press conference about the restrictions introduced” was cut out.
Last Friday, Ulyanovsk regional government officials held a press conference about mobile Internet outages. They believe that the shutdown is related to ensuring safety in the conditions of the Northern Military District.
It should be noted that the federal government has expanded security zones around special facilities, “and these are permanent restrictions and not temporary measures during the attack.” Officials said they were not at liberty to reveal the boundaries of these areas.
According to Yagfarov, it would be more correct to call this not a shutdown but a “deep restriction of the Internet.” In case of danger from drones, limited 2G data transmission remains, after canceling the danger mode within 20 minutes, data transmission will return to normal conditions. However, in areas involving special subjects, continuous, “almost complete” Internet restrictions are maintained, while maintaining the ability to operate whitelisted sites” (“Government Services”, social networks “VKontakte”, “Odnoklassniki”, etc.).
