Xiaomi plans to release a smartphone based entirely on its own technology in 2026: proprietary processor, operating system and AI. This was stated by company founder and CEO Lei Jun at an internal awards ceremony for technology groups, where the developers of the XRING O1 chip received the main prize. This was reported by GizmoChina.

XRING O1 is a processor created using second-generation 3-nanometer process technology, making it the first flagship mobile chip of its kind developed by a company from mainland China. Its release allowed Xiaomi to enter the top 4 world manufacturers that have mastered the production of 3nm chips, along with Apple, Qualcomm and MediaTek.
To realize its strategy of complete technological independence, Xiaomi plans to invest 200 billion yuan in the next five years, focusing on chip development, operating systems and AI technology. This is double the amount of the previous five-year investment program, in which the company spent 105 billion yuan compared to the original plan of 100 billion.
This approach, according to management, will give Xiaomi a long-term competitive advantage in the people-car-home ecosystem, which will become more integrated and visible to users.
