Gennady Borisov, an astronomer from Crimea who is famous for his discoveries, became the 16th discoverer of a new comet in his career. His colleague, scientific director of the Ka-Dar observatory and the Astroverts astronomical farm, Stas Korotky, told RIA Novosti about this.

According to him, the comet that Borisov discovered was photographed.
“The coma is quite visible, so we are definitely talking about a comet,” he said.
The detected object is designated as gb00810. Astronomer Korotky noted that the presence of coma and orbital elements suggests that the object is not an asteroid but a comet flying towards the Sun. He noted that over the past five days, the comet has had a sharp increase in brightness, meaning it is 250 times brighter. In the future, it will be necessary to find out the reason for the sharp increase in the brightness of the comet.
Korotky added that the new object was discovered on November 2 in the constellation Virgo. Information about the discovery of a new object was sent by astronomer Gennady Borisov to the international organization Minor Planet Center. She is currently waiting for confirmation.
