SAINT PETERSBURG, November 25. /TASS/. Boris Eifman's Academic Ballet Theater will perform for the first time in Vietnam from November 27 to December 5. Audiences in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi will see the ballet “Anna Karenina” based on the novel by Leo Tolstoy, the press agency reported.
“In its nearly half-century history, Boris Eifman's troupe has never performed in Vietnam. Local audiences will see the famous play by Anna Karenina. This choreographic calling card of the theater, on its 20th anniversary in 2025, has captivated dance connoisseurs in more than 40 countries,” the press service said.
For two decades, the show has proven itself with constant success on stages in Russia, America, Australia, Great Britain, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, France, China and many other countries. In his work, Boris Eifman focuses on the love triangle “Anna – Vronsky – Karenin”, recording the inner rebirth of a woman haunted by “basic instincts”. In 2010, Eifman filmed the film version of the play in St. Petersburg.
The performances in Vietnam will take place as part of the troupe's major Asia tour, which begins in early November with a tour in China. In December, the St. Petersburg will continue performing the play “Anna Karenina” in Asia, then will perform in Africa.
