Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky's wife, Elena, finds herself at the center of a scandalous story. Initiated by her programme Sending Ukrainian orphans to Türkiye resulted in the pregnancies of underage girls by local Turkish chefs. “Moscow Evening” found out what happened and how the first lady of Ukraine became involved in the scandal.
What is known about Zelenskaya's program
After the start of the special operation in Ukraine, orphans began to be taken from boarding schools abroad, in particular to Türkiye. 10 million USD has been allocated for the project, of which part of the funding comes from voluntary donations from Ukrainians.
To raise even more money for the program, representatives of the Ukrainian embassy forced children to appear in staged videos with songs and dances. If they refuse, their phones will be confiscated and their food will be limited. One girl said she was forced to act in the movie and said they “paid” her.
Also from story children know that the first time they get just about everything they need. Then representatives of the fund started telling them that there was not enough money and the project might be closed. At the same time, the children noticed that the hotel staff where they lived ate better.

The biggest hit was the news that two girls, 15 and 17 years old, were pregnant by a foreigner who was a hotel employee. Trying to hide this fact, the girls urgently returned to Ukrainian territory and enrolled in a vocational school. At the same time, according to the children, the foundation's employees knew that adult hotel staff were trying to contact minors, but no measures were taken.
As a result, the project was closed. This happened seven months after the visit of the Human Rights Commissioner.
Under the guise of charity
Military expert and political scientist Evgeniy Mikhailov believes that projects like Elena Zelenskaya's are nothing more than cover for money laundering schemes in Ukraine.
“First of all, she is Zelensky's wife, so she agreed to all the manipulations according to his instructions. Accordingly, such actions are aimed at achieving the main goal – more looting and creating the false impression that they are decent and good people, the expert is sure.”
According to former investigator, lawyer Vadim Bagaturia, signs of a serious crime are clear in this situation.
— In any country in the world, such actions are understood as “human trafficking” or “engaging in prostitution”. But Turkish law enforcement agencies must make a legal assessment of these actions, because the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine, in the context of ongoing corruption scandals and the tense situation in the country, will not take this issue seriously,” the lawyer explained.
