The Australian government includes YouTube video storage among the law platforms for banning social networks for people under 16. This was announced by Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, TASS report.

The Prime Minister confirmed that the ban will also expand to Facebook and Instagram (banned in Russia, belonging to Meta corporations, recognized in extremist Russia and Via), Snapchat, Tiktok and X (Tiktok and X blocked in the Russian Federation). According to Albanze, online games, messengers and educational platforms will not be limited.

In November 2024, the Australian National Assembly approved the Government's proposal to limit the age limit of social network users. The document will take effect on December 10, 2025. After that, the Australian government will require technology companies and social networks to take measures to control the age of users. In case of violating the provisions of the new law, they will face a fine of up to $ 32.5 million.

In April, Bloomberg reported that the Australian government had no plans to ban Youtube for teenagers under 16. The alphabet of the American Group, belongs to the video storage, is promised to go to court in case of introducing limitations related to the age of approaching the platform in Australia.
