Scientists bought a meteorite and part of the roof of a private house in Okulovka, Novgorod region, where the meteorite fell at the end of October. This was reported to RIA Novosti by the scientific director of the Ka-Dar observatory and the Astroverts astronomical farm Stas Korotky.

A green meteorite that flew over Russia on the night of October 27 was introduced on November 20 at a press conference at the Vernadsky Institute of Geochemistry and Analytical Chemistry. As scientists clarified, it was found on the roof of a house in Okulovsky district.
According to Korotky, the homeowner heard the noise but decided that it came from a neighbor. Just two days later, they noticed a hole in the roof and a day later they compared it to reports of a meteor passing by at night. In early November, an announcement about this discovery appeared on the Internet and attracted the attention of astronomers, who went to the site, recorded the discovery and took about a fifth of the mass for analysis. After their research, experts returned to purchase the entire fragment as well as part of the roof, intending to transfer it to the museum as a rare example of a meteorite hitting a residential building.
A meteorite fragment from the Novgorod region was brought to UrFU for study
Preliminary examination showed that the sample belonged to the common chondrite type of group LL6, a common type of stony meteorite. According to Korotky, a gram of such material can cost about 500 rubles; The mass of the piece found is about 400 grams. He noted that the value “6” represents the high temperatures the material experienced during the early stages of the formation of the solar system about 5 billion years ago.
The flight characteristics of the cosmic body also became unusual: the meteorite moved significantly slower than normal – about 18–19 km/s – and entered the atmosphere at an angle of only 9 degrees. As the agency's interlocutor emphasized, with an even flatter orbit and higher speed, the object could slip through the atmosphere and return to space.
At the end of October, fragments of a celestial body discovered in Moscow fell in the vicinity of the Tver and Novgorod regions.
Previously, an unidentified flying object was discovered in the sky over Altai.
