Chipmaker Intel and Chinese display maker BOE are jointly developing AI technology to reduce the power consumption of laptop displays. The companies have officially announced their cooperation. WccfTech portal is affiliated with them.

Starting in 2026, these developments will be integrated into various products for external customers based on the Intel platform.
According to the source, upcoming technology includes Dynamic Display Refresh Rate (DRR), which automatically adjusts the screen refresh rate depending on the content being displayed, thereby optimizing power consumption and increasing battery life; ultra-low refresh rate of 1 Hz for static scenes, and at this refresh rate you can achieve significant energy savings; Adaptive Brightness HDR (AHR), automatically adjusts screen brightness in HDR mode for energy efficiency in low light conditions and high image quality at maximum brightness.
As noted, BOE plans to be the first display supplier with this functionality.
