O'Hara and Hoelzel will co-direct the film, which is currently in preparation. Sonja O'Hara, who will also star in the film, will play fungal biologist Ro.
The film will tell the story of two female characters testing an experimental drug on humans that aims to eliminate addiction to romantic relationships.
Filming is still underway on the project, which is expected to take place in Los Angeles this winter.
